So many things to do this week! Happy to announce, I will share events around NYC via the OTDB EVENT PICKS . But first, lets talk about #CURLFEST and recap The Grits & Biscuits Block Party (Brooklyn) and The Do-Over, Brooklyn (ALL BELOW, SCROLL A LITTLE)!
Before we get into events, let's pre-Game your weekend with DJ Aktive's Best of Busta Rhymes 2017.
The CURLFEST is back in Prospect Park (Brooklyn) for another grand event celebrating natural beauty. There will be games, live music, beauty demonstrations, vendors and many surprises. This event continues to grow and is now coined as the "Coachella" and "Polo Classic" of Natural Beauty. Bring your blankets, your best threads, your shades and prepare for a good time. Check out tips below! Admission is FREE!
CURLFEST THINGS TO KNOW
There is a strict "no grilling" rule. You are allowed to bring your own snacks and food, in addition there will be food vendors.
While you are asked to RSVP, the park is open to all. If you have any issues with the RSVP, it is ok, make you still show your face. You won't be able to get a gift bag, but there is so much more to do!
There will be many beautiful faces and it is encouraged to be photoshoot fresh. The event is open to men and women. You may meet a new bae?!
There will be plenty of vendors! From beauty products to tasty eats - you will want to have cash on hand.
LET'S RECAP LAST WEEKEND
Sooooo, can we talk about last weekend in Brooklyn! OTDB recaps Grits & Biscuits and The Do Over Brooklyn,
Listen! If you have NOT heard about Grit's & Biscuits that's ok (its a big deal!), I am here to tell you about it! It is FUN! If you LOVE Dirty Southern, Trap and HipHop music - this event is a must.
GRITS & BISCUITS TIPS
COMFORTABLE FOOTWEAR- If you love your favorite sneakers or just got a new pair of kicks you adore, DO NOT WEAR THEM! Also, leave your heels, hard-bottoms and similar at home. Why: You will look crazy wearing 5" heels trying to be cute in a corner.
NO SQUARES ALLOWED
It's ok, if you do not know how to "Swag Surf" (it's really easy). But you are not allowed to NOT have a good time. Do not be that person! This is a time to relive your college days, twerk, drop-it-low and more! Dancing and two-steps are a must.
BE READY TO SWEAT
Whatever you decide to wear, make sure it looks good sweaty! You are bound to sweat. Be mindful clothing that might stretch, bleed or fall apart (dramatic, right!?). I warned you! Oh, ladies, make sure you wear a hairstyle that you do not mind getting a little moist (buns, curls, braids, and extra holding spray on straight hair)
This party is coined as "Your Favorite DJ's, Favorite Party." The Do-Over is an international phenomenon that spreads their message of massive tunes and summer-time vibes. For Brooklyn, they pulled out all the stops and kept consistent with sharing very little information of who will DJ or perform! I am going to share the best tip and ONLY important information to share: GET THERE EARLY!
